The Radical Leap by Steve Farber Book Review

by Scott on June 26, 2009

You will find very few books that serve to help improve your business and your life in general. Steve Farber’s Radical Leap is one of those books. The full title is The Radical Leap: A Personal Lesson in Extreme Leadership. It is a definite read. I have two copies but unfortunately neither one is at my house. I lend them to friends and they never seem to make it back. I always hear that the book was so good I wanted a friend to read it. I hope you don’t mind.

When it comes to spreading a message that can improve the world how can you argue with someone getting it as well? The book isn’t written as a typical business book. It is more of a fable. You follow the adventures of a business consultant as he widens his eyes to a whole new world. If you think business is purely a function of profit/loss statements and grinding it out, then this book will be an eye opener. It is a fairly short read as well so don’t expect to have to spend weeks learning it though you will spend a lifetime implementing it.

The Radical LEAP is a very different way to look at business. LEAP is an acronym. It stands for the fundamental parts of what makes a great business according to the story.

cultivate Love
generage Energy
inspire Audacity
provide Proof

Doesn’t sound like the typical business book does it? This philosophy isn’t for cookie cutter type business that don’t want to stand out. It isn’t for something you do that makes you more tired when you get home than when you went to work. It isn’t just for business owners though. The philosophy can be applied to employees as well.

If you want to radically change your viewpoint on business and life then pick up a copy of the Radical Leap. I will warn you that if you don’t have a passion for life then you will be let down by this book. It is not for anyone who wants to simply fade into the background.
